In the prime of her life, Julie is gradually losing her sight. Although the inevitability of her fate fuels her apprehension and distress, it also nurtures the courage and resilience she draws from the unfailing support of her friend Marina. In a touching and sensitive film, the filmmaker captures with modesty a critical moment in Julie's life, an inevitable leap into the unknown, where nothing will ever be the same again. The film takes on the challenge of being in tune with the transformation as it is experienced by the young woman. Visually, Perséides skilfully follows the evolution of her character's vision, as she slips not so much into darkness but into a new realm of perception. (MB)
