Sky Hopinka: Redefining potential territories

Sunflower Siege Engine Sky Hopinka

Archival images of the Indigenous-led occupation of Alcatraz between November 20, 1969, and June 11, 1971, draw a worrying parallel between living conditions in the prison and Indigenous communities. Filmed over half a century later, shots of Cahokia and other places underline that the battle for sovereignty is ongoing. (HSB)

This film is presented as part of the retrospective Sky Hopinka : Redefining Potential Territories.
