La Maison silencieuse
In the heart of Tehran, a grand house spanning several eras stands witness to the evolution of Iranian politics. A wealthy man buys the house from the fourth wife of the last Shah of Iran at the start of the 1979 revolution. The man’s family moves in, and his grandchildren start to film life inside the house. Over three generations and four decades, they continue capturing the minor and major events in their family life. The result is an intimate, endearing and moving record. As the backdrop for this affluent family’s turbulent history, the house is a porous fortress, exposed to the upheavals of Iranian political history that infiltrates its walls and inexorably shapes the trajectory of its inhabitants.
