Aurore Cormier and her family were hit by a smallpox outbreak at the turn of the 20th century. A hundred years on, her descendants delve into local and family archives to explore the circumstances of her death, caused by the deadly virus that has since been eradicated. Among these records are the Cormier family's journals. Portions of these personal writings are interwoven with reconstructed images depicting the daily life of a family facing a dire epidemic, providing insight into their worries and preoccupations. The emotional response these images elicit remains profoundly pertinent amid the ongoing anxieties perpetuated by the COVID-19 pandemic. (AJL)
