Documentary cinema is generally regarded as the art of the real. But what happens when the camera turns to the virtual world? This discussion explores the creative processes behind two films selected for this year’s RIDM: Notes from Eremocene, set in a future world where the possibilities of blockchain technology and artificial intelligence are explored; and Knit's Island, a film shot entirely within the confines of a video game. Each in their own way, these two works explore exciting new frontiers for documentary in the digital age.
