RIDM en plein air summer screenings:
The best documentaries outdoors, free, all summer!
Montreal, Wednesday, June 1st, 2016 – The Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) is pleased to announce its program of free outdoor screenings for summer 2016, from June 16 to August 18. Working with several other organizations, the RIDM will present a selection of 12 top-notch documentaries in 10 Montreal’s parks and several unusual venues. It’s a great way to enjoy both the summer and the best of documentary film. RIDM en plein air series is presented by documentary channel Planète+.
All screenings will start at nightfall, and most will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.
The very first screening will take place on Thursday, June 16, 9 p.m. at Parc du Portugal with the presentation of documentary The Roots Remain (Retour aux sources) by Jean-Sébastien Francoeur and Andrew Marchand-Boddy, in the original English, French and Khmer version, with French subtitles. Presented in collaboration with MURAL international public art festival, artist FONKi will attend the screening.
Co-produced by Rithy Panh, The Roots Remain (Retour aux sources) follows mural artist FONKi back to Cambodia, where his family had fled during the reign of the Khmer Rouge.
The screening will be accompanied by an on-site surprise activity, courtesy of Planète+.
The following films will be part of the outdoor screenings series: Marinoni by Tony Girardin, Pipelines, pouvoir et démocratie by Olivier D. Asselin, Bienvenue à F.L. by Geneviève Dulude-De Celles, La Trilogie du départ: La Métropolitaine, Taxi pour deux and Île et aile by Dan Popa, Everything will be by Julia Kwan, Oncle Bernard, l’anti-leçon d’économie by Richard Brouillette, I'm Gone: A Film about Amy by Julie Bourbonnais et Geneviève Philippon, Maman? Non merci! by Magenta Baribeau, Inventionby Mark Lewis and two films that will be announced shortly.
