Montreal, Monday, August 13, 2018 – Doc Circuit Montreal (DCM) is proud to announce the 8th edition of the First Pitch. The event brings together Quebec’s emerging filmmakers with well-established documentary film producers from the industry to network and build relationships. Two days of intensive training and pitching will take place October 3 and 10, 2018.

The event will take place at the ARRQ Association des réalisateurs et réalisatrices du Québec.
We encourage all Quebec based emerging filmmakers to send their applications by September 16, 2018. All types of projects, genres, formats and platforms are admissible at any stage of production. The First Pitch encourages the creation of new collaborations, to revitalize the documentary film industry. Projects presented in 2016 and 2017 have had resounding success. Corinne Beaumier, Et si ce film était traduit en chinois, il voudrait dire tout autre chose, is now finishing her film with EyeSteelFilm’s Bob Moore whom she met at First Pitch and was subsequently selected at Pitching Du Réel at the Visions du Réel Festival 2018. Nicolas-Alexandre Tremblay and Stéphane Trottier’s Coasters is currently in post-production, after winning the Canal D award at the 2016 Talent Lab and meeting his production company Tortuga Films, as well as his broadcaster Unis/TV5 during the One-on-One meetings that same year.
In parallel of the First Pitch, Doc Circuit Montreal wishes to recall that established and emerging producers and directors are invited to submit their documentary film projects by September 3 for the Cuban Hat Pitch.
