The RIDM on La Fabrique culturelle

News

The Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) is proud to announce a new partnership with La Fabrique culturelle. On three occasions in 2018, short documentaries that premiered at the RIDM will be available for free for 14 days on Télé-Québec’s streaming platform, giving viewers the opportunity to explore and share powerful original films outside the festival setting.

The initiative begins today with the first of the three programs. The other two programs will be made available in the spring and fall of 2018.

From January 16 to February 12th, 5 short films that screened at last fall’s 20 th annual RIDM will be available
online: the hypnotic Dream Box by Jeroen Van der Stock, which takes us deep inside a Japanese
forest where animals are brought to a strange building; the philosophical essay La frontière by Félix
Lamarche, a poetic and scientific reflection on the value of the oceans; the intimate, heartbreaking
Prends ma main by Alexandre Lefebvre, exploring visual impairment through the lives of Chloé (11),
Alex (17) and Salma (21); the disturbing Les tortues sont toujours chez elles by Rawane Nassif, who
visits an idyllic but ghostly town as the starting point for reflections on the meaning of home; and
the poignant Vieillir sans mes enfants by Gisela Restrepo, in which the filmmaker asks her
grandmother about the lives of her three children, who all fought in Colombia’s civil war in the
1980s.
