We are pleased to announce the selection of the project from the Senegalese delegation that will take part in Doc Lab Montréal, a documentary talent incubator, from November 17 to 22, 2023. Forum RIDM, presented by Netflix, is honoured to welcome director Awa Moctar Gueye and producer Mamadou Sellou Diallo, who will present their feature-length project Murmures.
This collaboration, carried out in partnership with the StLouis’Docs festival, aims to foster the professional and creative development of this Senegalese duo, and to stimulate cross-cultural exchanges between filmmakers and accredited market professionals. In addition to their involvement in Doc Lab Montréal, the two Senegalese professionals will also take part in activities and talks held during the 19th edition of Forum RIDM.
Project synopsis:
By day, the suburb of Darou Salam 4 is bustling. Awa has always lived there with her family, relatives, friends, neighbours, and entourage. While the men head off to work, young people study and children play in the streets. But what do the women do? At night, you can hear their whispers. They are mothers. Their voices pour out what’s on their minds. They disclose all the heartache they've built up during the day. Murmures is a tale of women, the guardians of our homes.
